G. K. Chesterton said: “An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered.” —All Things Considered, “On Running After One’s Hat”
“Further Adventures of” is a blog where I reflect on my own adventures in life. Besides the Chesteron quote, I cribb the name from use by serialized pop literature, like comic books and old live-recorded radio dramas, and an album of the same name by Bruce Cockburn (my autographed copy is pictured above).
So, I will be writing about my adventures in Christian faith and theology, family and friends, pastoral ministry, discipleship and church community, books, movies, music, travel and myriad other interests.
The first thing I will be writing about regularly is travel with a purpose. But more on that tomorrow.
For now, I’ll just quote Pilgrim, the title character in Larry Norman’s blues/rock opera album Something New Under The Son, who said: “I know where I am going, and I know who I must be. I don’t care how long it takes me, ’cuz there’s lots of things to see.”
