6/29/98: Met with Mwaura today. Unfortunately, I wasn’t of much assistance. His equipment is so out of date that I was amazed that he manages to get a magazine published at all. But in all fairness, he does a great job considering what he has to work with.

6/29/23: It was nice to meet and talk with Mwaura. He was a Kenyan who had traveled a bit and was planning to visit friends in Denver, Colorado the following September. I told him not to miss the Grand Canyon if he can make it. Not the same kind of geological wonder as the Great Rift Valley, but a similarly big hole in the ground.
I also met with Susie B. after lunch, who gave me a bird’s eye view of the work going on around the campus. We discussed the project I would work on, which focused on taking photos of their patients who needed reconstructive surgeries and rehabilitation. Factors such as poor diet, result in a higher rate of deformities and congenital defects in children born in rural Kenya. AIC Kijabe Hospital continues to focus some of their expert healthcare to pediatrics, reconstructive surgeries, and rehabilitation therapy clinics.
