7/14/98: This morning Ruth and I helped Martha and some other SIM folks do some moving. A new guest residence and new office space…

7/14/23: That day was a bit rainy, so the floors got a bit muddy during the move, but it all went pretty smoothly. Fortunately, the building we were moving to was right next door to the one we were moving out of. So within just a few hours it was pretty much completed.
We went downtown to pick up developed film from our stay in Zimbabwe. Then we walked down to the Masai Market, where we were quickly surrounded by touts trying to sell us one thing or another. The Masai people are famous for their colorful clothing and decorative bead-work. We eventually purchased two items: a beaded necklace for Ruth and a beaded leather collar for our dog back home. I messed up the currency exchange figures in my head and overpaid the seller by double, but I didn’t realize that until much later.
