7/19/98: Went to church and connected with John and Pearle S. I recognized them from a photo that our mutual friend, Keith H., had shown me back in Chicago. They invited us over for dinner…
NOTE: The photo above shows us with John & Pearle S. and their children when we ate dinner at their home in Nairobi.
7/19/23: After church Ruth and I returned to the guest house and spent the afternoon reading. Later in the evening, John S. picked us up and brought us to their home for dinner. They served us some delicious pork chops with homemade applesauce, something I had not had since I was a child, so I found it very enjoyable. Their kids were wound up and charming. Getting to know the family was delightful. John was a missionary bush pilot with AIM Air (Africa Inland Mission’s aviation branch) whose role was to safely transport missionaries into and out of remote areas that were otherwise unreachable. He had attended Moody Bible Institute’s flight school, so it turned out we had several other common friends besides the Keith and Amy H! A small world indeed.
