1/3/99: We walked around the city a bit, and strolled right by the Stasion Gubeng. That’s the train station we wound up needlessly taking a taxi from the other night. The taxi drivers definitely “took us for a ride…” Bought a ticket back to Malang for tomorrow… Then did even more souvenir and gift shopping at Tunjungan Plaza… The economy of Indonesia is such that the exchange rate is highly favorable for us as tourists, something like 10,000 Rupiah to $1.00…
