1/12/99: After doing come accounting of our expenses so far, Ruth found that we’re well under budget. But we are only five days from arriving back in the U.S. where we will spend several weeks visiting her family and friends on the island of Maui, where she was born and raised… There were times we thought we’d never get going on this trip, and now it’s almost over… The rest of the day was spent wandering around on Monkey Forest Road shopping for more gifts to bring back to friends and family in the U.S…
