1/27/99: Dad took me to the Pukalani Golf Course to teach me how to play golf. It is amazing to me that he’s about to turn 78. He acts like he’s about 50! At the driving range he definitely put me to shame, both for distance and consistency. Then on the chipping green he started by telling me “This is the worst part of my game. Chipping can be very difficult.” Then he proceeded to sink the very first shot, a 25-footer, right into the cup! Just about made me give up. One thing’s for certain, I won’t believe a word he says about his skills anymore.
NOTE: The photo above shows the vibrant colors of some plants used for landscaping at a friend’s home on Maui. Most of my golf shots wound up in the yards or bushes of the homes around the Pukalani Golf Course, so I figured this was an appropriate photo for this post. At least I didn’t break any windows.
