The Coromandel Coast

Posted on August 19, 2023

8/19/98: By train along the Coromandel Coast along the Bay of Bengal… Our train was five hours late, three of which was spend sitting half a mile from Howrah Station… But we were not permitted to leave the train… Staying in a guest room at Emmanuel Ministries, a ministry that provides shelter and safety for “platform children,” kids who are either runaways or abandoned by their families… Dinner with Vijayan and Premila P., the founders of the organization…

NOTE: The photo above is the Howrah Bridge over the Hooghly River (Photo by Ravi Singh on Unsplash) just outside the Howrah Station train terminus.
