8/28/23: Today I read a well-meaning, but, I think, errant post on some social media feed, something like: “Look after yourself, go where you’re appreciated, do what fulfills you…” As mentioned previously, Raxaul was looked down upon by every citizen of India that we encountered from other parts of the country… It is thought of as filthy and polluted, a poverty-stricken town, and unsafe in the extreme… And of course, that is why the Duncan Hospital was founded, and why so many men and women still go there and serve… They are people who decided to look after others, to go where they are needed, and to let fulfillment take care of itself… We met and worked with many great people there, and at other mission hospitals around the world, and we are thankful for the privilege…
