9/18/98: This morning we rode on what they call a minibus here in HK, with a stern sign that says: “Only 16 passengers!”… That made me chuckle, because in Africa we rode in “minibuses” that were equivalent to a family minivan in the US, and regularly squeezed in 16-20 people at a time… Perhaps they make things here appear ample, so as to make up for the fact that HK is short on space in general: a densely crowded city, with the appearance of lots of room… It is amazing how they every little nook and cranny of the city to good use… Even the land under the fly-over roads that are circuitously threaded through all of the high rises are well kept, landscaped with shrubbery and flowers, and used as public parks or basketball courts… We did a photo shoot at the school where Jodi teaches… She does an amazing job, and we could see that all of the kids not only love her, but responded well to her teaching skills… Clearly, she and Jonathan are another bright spot in this beautiful city… I like HK. I could live here…
NOTE: The photo above shows Jodi (in the distance) reading to her class.
