10/20/98: Today we took a boat tour on the Li River up to the village of Yangti… On board we met Ken and Rochelle who are from Hawaii… They are also dog lovers, so we had to show our snapshots to each other… The scenery along the river was spectacular… We saw people doing their laundry in the river, seaweed farmers harvesting their “fields,” fishermen using tethered cormorants instead of nets or a rod and reel, water buffalo wallowing in the shallows to escape the heat, and farmers poling their bamboo rafts laden with fruits and vegetable to sell in the various river villages… A beautiful day in the life…
